Description:
This 11.5 mile (18.5km) circular walk from Middle Wallop follows tracks and minor roads to Quarley Hill. Sections of this route follows minor roads, these are not devoid of traffic so care needs to be taken. The walk also crosses the A343 twice.

This walk starts from the George Inn public house in Middle Wallop (SO20 8EG) (Grid Ref: SU291378). Please ask permission to park and only use the pub car park if you intend to stop for refreshments before or after your walk.
Walk Route:
Leave the George Inn car park and cross the A343 with care and walk north passing Pinchbecks Garage. As the pavement ends take a footpath on the left heading west. This path goes through a field to a metal stile leading into a caravan storage yard. Follow the footpath in a westerly direction through the storage area and cross a stile where the path continues through trees.
At a crossing of tracks (Grid Ref: SU286383) turn right to follow a track heading north. After 300 metres at a junction of tracks turn left and then after 65 metres take a track on the right leading north towards a minor road (Grid Ref: SU288389).
After crossing the road continue along the track for 650 metres to an arable field, the path crosses the field to join a tarmac lane to the north of Park Farm (Grid Ref: SU292398). Head north along the track passing barns and a water tower. On reaching the B3084 cross and continue north on a track, Georgia Lane, soon passing Oklahoma Farm. The track becomes a minor road at Georgia Farm (Grid Ref: SU297419).
The minor road continues north and goes under the Salisbury to London railway line and continues on for 1.2km to a junction with a minor road at Fox Farm (Grid Ref: SU292433). Turn left along the road and then after 250 metres fork right onto a road signposted to Quarley. In 700 metres the road bends to the right, continue straight on along Grateley Drove for 950 metres to a minor road (Grid Ref: SU275425), turn right towards Quarley Manor Farm. In 300 metres at the farm drive turn left and follow a footpath through the farm buildings and then into a field to walk along the edge of Quarley Wood (Grid Ref: SU273426).
The path continues along the edge of fields, to the right is the Hill Fort on Quarley Hill. The route continues above Manor Farm Dairy to reach a junction of tracks (Grid Ref: SU260418) turn right and after 125 metres take a footpath on the left that crosses fields to reach the B3084. Turn left and follow the road for 825 metres to the entrance to Portway Farm (Grid Ref: SU256416). Fork right to follow a hedge lined footpath to a minor road and continue straight on towards Palestine. After 550 metres on the tarmac road turn right into Zion Road (Grid Ref: SU260408).
At a junction with Palestine Road turn left and head south to reach a minor road, Mount Carmel Road. Turn left and after 200 metres at a junction of road and tracks turn right and follow the broad track as it skirts the boundary of MOD land. Stay on this track for 1.6km to reach a track on the left (Grid Ref: SU264385). Follow this track to pass the entrance to Croft Farm. The track then becomes a minor road with the Wallop Brook running in ditches either side. On the outskirts of Over Wallop turn right (Grid Ref: SU277387) and follow the road into the village.
Stay on this minor road to pass the White Hart pub and then at a junction turn right into Salisbury Lane and head uphill for 65 metres and take a footpath on the left (Grid Ref: SU282382). After passing the church fork left on a path that descends towards Wallop Brook and then follow the path as it leads back to the A343. At the main road turn left and then cross the road with care to return to the starting point at the George Inn.
