Guided Walk: 22nd October 2024 – Fovant Badges

Date:  Tuesday 22nd October 2024

Start Location:  Broad Chalke – details will be sent with joining instructions.

Start Time: 10.30 (Start time is when the walk commences. Please arrive earlier to ensure you are ready for the start.)

Walk description:

On this 12 mile circular walk we will have fine views of the Fovant Badges and pass the Commonwealth War Cemetery at Compton Chamberlayne. The route follows tracks and droves through this attractive area of Cranborne Chase. There are far reaching views on this walk.

How much will it cost?

£7.50 paid in advance or cash/card on the day.

Walk Level: 

This is a moderate walk with some ascents and descents. 

How long will it take?

This walk will take approximately 4 to 5 hours. During the walk we will stop for a picnic lunch (not provided).

Equipment

You will need suitable footwear and outdoor clothing (not denim jeans) and waterproofs.

You should also bring drinking water and lunch / snacks.

Maximum 12 people.  (Remaining places = 10)

Toilets

There are no public toilets on this walk.

Refreshments

You will need to bring you own food and drink.  There is a village shop in Broadchalke and in Fovant (you should check opening hours).

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are only allowed by prior agreement and must be kept on a lead throughout the walk. Please add details of your dog in the comments section of the booking form and Fred will contact you.

If you have not booked a place on this walk, completed the appropriate forms or arrive without suitable clothing/equipment unfortunately you will not be able to join the walk.

About Your Walk Leader: Walking Moonraker walks are led by Fred. He is a qualified Mountain Training Association Lowland Leader with an Outdoor First Aid certificate and has appropriate public liability and professional indemnity insurance to lead lowland walks.  He has also achieved the National Navigation Award Scheme Gold Standard of navigation.
