Guided Walk: 21st November 2024 – Badbury Rings and Tarrant Crawford

Date:  Thursday 21st November 2024

Start Location:  This walk starts near Badbury Rings. Details will be sent with joining instructions.

Start Time: 9.15 (Start time is when the walk commences. Please arrive earlier to ensure you are ready for the start)

Walk description:  This 13.5 mile (20k) circular walk visits the Iron Age hill fort at Badbury Rings crosses the World War II Airfield at Tarrant Rushton and stops at St Mary’s Church Tarrant Crawford to view the medieval wall paintings.

This walk goes through attractive countryside, passes historic places of interest and has far reaching views.

Walk Level:  This is a moderate/challenging walk with approximately 600 feet of ascent during the route. 

How long will it take? This walk will take approximately 6 hours. During the walk we will stop for a picnic lunch (not provided).

Equipment: You will need suitable footwear and outdoor clothing (not denim jeans) and waterproofs.

You should also bring drinking water and lunch / snacks.

Group Size: Maximum 8 people (6 places remaining)

Toilets: There are no public toilets on this walk.

Refreshments: You will need to bring you own food and drink.

Are dogs allowed? Dogs are only allowed by prior agreement and must be kept on a lead throughout the walk. Please add details of your dog in the comments section of the booking form and Fred will contact you.

How much will it cost? £7.50 paid in advance or cash on the day.

About Your Walk Leader:

Walking Moonraker walks are led by Fred. He is a qualified Mountain Training Association Lowland Leader with an Outdoor First Aid certificate and has appropriate public liability and professional indemnity insurance to lead lowland walks.  He has also achieved the National Navigation Award Scheme Gold Standard of navigation.
